You were not made to live in pain.

Three doctors told me spinal surgery was my only option. I said no — and then spent two decades chasing relief through chiropractors and injections, until it got to the point where all anyone had left to offer me was pain medication. Nobody had a real solution.

I've now been pain free for over five years. No surgery. No medication. Just simple movement, a few inexpensive tools, and God walking me through it.

So now I'm here for anyone living with pain, or struggling with movement. I know God does not want us living like this — your body is a miracle, and it was built to heal. I want to share what helped mine.

Three doctors. One answer I refused.

You are only as young as your spine is flexible.

Joseph Pilates — I taught aerobics, step and cycling for years, in pain the whole time, before I ever found his method.

In my mid-twenties I was diagnosed with spondylolisthesis — a condition where a vertebra slips forward onto the bone directly beneath it. Three doctors, an orthopedic surgeon among them, told me the same thing: I needed a bone fusion.

I opted out, and what followed was twenty years of trying everything that traditional doctors recommend. Chiropractic three times a week, paid out of my own pocket — not to get better, just to be able to function. And the whole time I was teaching fitness. Aerobics, step, cycling, up at the front of the room, hurting through every minute of it.

Eventually came the pain clinic, the epidural injections, and the medication that went with them. Within a year I wasn't only fighting pain anymore. Getting off it was the hardest week of my life.

I knew God had a better way for me to manage my pain — and ultimately to see healing in my low back.

Pilates is what turned it around. After all those years of conventional fitness, it was the first thing that worked with my back instead of against it. I've now been pain free for over five years.

Movement is your medicine.

Less pain. More movement. Stronger you.

Pain is never only physical.

Your body, your thoughts and your faith are not separate systems. When they come into agreement, things start to loosen. Everything I teach works on all three — and the man who invented the method I trained in said the same thing eighty years ago.

I'm not going to be shy about the third one. God is the reason I'm out of pain, and leaving Him out of how I teach this would mean leaving out the part that mattered most.

the bodyRelease what's holding on

Stretching, pressure points, myofascial release, breathwork and everyday movement. Small, specific techniques for the back, neck, shoulders, hips, knees and feet — most of them done in under a minute.

the soulChange what you say

Fear, stress and years of bracing for the next flare-up settle into your muscles. We pair movement with declarations you speak over your own body, because the words matter as much as the stretch.

the spiritInvite God into it

Prayer and scripture woven right into the work. He designed your body to heal, and I'd rather walk this out with Him than without Him.

What you'll find here

Short and practical. No complicated routines, no intimidation — and nothing here depends on your age or how fit you are. Start with whatever hurts most today.

One-minute relief

Short videos for the pain you're feeling right now — stiff back in the morning, tight neck by lunch, aching feet at the end of the day.

Prayers and declarations

Words to speak over your body while you move, and prayers you can pray over your own health.

What to stop doing

The stretches and habits that are quietly keeping you stuck, and what to do instead. Most people are surprised by at least one of them.

Stories of freedom

People who were told to live with it and didn't. Some of them had been hurting a lot longer than I was.

Movement you can actually fit in

Built around the life you already have — at the kitchen sink, in line at the store, before you get out of bed.

Live workshops

Sessions online or in person, where we work through the techniques together and I can answer your questions as they come up.

Posture that holds up

Most back pain I see traces back to how someone stands, sits and drives all day. Fixing that is slower than a stretch, and it lasts longer.

A core that carries you

Strength and flexibility together, so your back isn't doing work your middle should be doing. This is the part that keeps the pain from coming back.

Everything you need costs less than lunch.

No machines, no gym membership, no standing appointment. Four things, and three of them are probably already in your house.

Tennis ball

Deep muscle release. This is the one I use for my famous “Ball on the Wall” exercise.

Lacrosse ball

Firmer and more precise, for pressure points the tennis ball can't quite reach — glutes, shoulder blades, the arch of the foot.

Stretch strap

Lets you get a real stretch without straining to reach. Especially good for hamstrings and hips, which pull on an unhappy back.

Pilates ball

Small and soft. Adds support and gentle resistance so you can work the core without loading the spine.

It isn't just me.

Two of the people I work with, in their own words.

I am in better shape at 70 years old, post cancer, than I was in my younger years. I am so thankful.

Shirley M. Back to pickleball, dog agility and zip lines

My mid-back hurt to the point of not being able to sit up in bed — I had to literally “roll off” the bed. Pam helped me solve ALL of these issues.

Come join me, live.

Wednesdays, 10:00–10:30 a.m. ET Free, live on Facebook. Nothing to book and nothing to pay.

Half an hour, once a week. I walk through techniques, take questions as they come, and we work through it together. Come as you are, camera off if you'd rather. If you can only manage thirty minutes a week for your body, make it this one.

Follow me on Facebook and you'll get a notification the moment I go live, so you don't have to remember. Subscribe on YouTube too and you'll catch the short tips I post through the rest of the week.

Can't make Wednesday mornings? The replay stays up on Facebook afterwards, so you can work through it whenever suits you.

I'm on Instagram as well, if that's where you already spend your time.

Start this week.

You don't need a plan, a gym or a single piece of equipment to begin. Come to the Wednesday session, or pick one short video and try the thing it shows you. That's the whole first step.

Pain Free with Pam offers movement education and encouragement. It is not medical advice, diagnosis or treatment, and it isn't a substitute for care from your own doctor or physical therapist. Talk with a qualified professional before starting anything new, and stop right away if something causes sharp or increasing pain.

My story is my own. Results differ from person to person, and nothing here is a promise of any particular outcome. If you're currently taking prescribed pain medication, please don't change or stop it on your own — do that with your prescriber.
